The Little Prince |
The Little Prince™ was originally produced by R. John Wright Dolls in 1983 as an exclusive edition for The Toy Shoppe. Measuring 18" tall, the doll utilized the Little Children face and body which were then in production. Dressed in the trademark greatcoat and holding a sword, this marked the very first R. John Wright store exclusive as well as our first-ever licensed character.
A second edition was introduced at NY Toy Fair in the year 2000 to celebrate the hundreth annniversary of the author's birth. This "Centary Edition" of The Little Prince™ measured 15" tall and featured a new stylized custom face mold. He was dressed in the customary coat and boots and carried a custom-made sword.
In in the year 2002, "The Little Prince Aviator™" was introduced. Using the same model as the Centary Edition, St. Exupéry's little messenger was costumed per the original illustrations in the classic belted jumpsuit and flowing scarf made of custom-dyed all-wool felt. On his feet he wore hand-cobbled felt shoes. Included with each doll was a lovely felt rose on a molded felt base under a small glass dome.
A highly sought-after edition of The Fox™ was produced in the same year. Designed in-scale to accompany either the 15" or 18" Little Prince dolls, the famous Desert Fox measured 5" tall.
In 2015, a new 'cabinet-size' version of The Little Prince was announced! Measuring just 8 1/2" tall, he is titled "Le Petit Prince," and comes outfitted in the classic coat with tall boots. Le Petit Prince will feature miniature replicas of his original sword and medallion handcrafted out of fine pewter. A new edition of The Fox was also produced in scale to go with the new Little Prince.
