Come join us at "Once Upon A Time" - the 2018 R. John Wright Convention. The dates are June 21-23 and the exciting new venue is the elegant Everett Mansion (shown above) located on the grounds of Southern Vermont College in Bennington, Vermont.

To provide accommodations for attendees we have booked rooms at the Bennington HAMPTON INN (Phone: 802-440-9862) at a special convention rate. A fleet of shuttle busses will provide easy transportation from the the hotel to the convention site just five minutes away. Convenient bus transportation to and from the Albany Airport one hour away will also be provided at special low rates.

Your visit to the R. John Wright workshop will give you a newfound appreciation for all that goes into making the RJW dolls and animals. In the production areas our team of artisans will be happy to chat with you and show you every facet of how our products are made! John and Susan Wright will also conduct tours of the RJW Design Studio where you will get a sneak-peek of items currently being developed.

Back at the Everett Mansion the fun will continue with a variety of Fairy Tale-themed events with souvenirs for collectors of every persuasion. A convention highlight will be a gala luncheon event - A Medieval Country Faire - with a costume competition! The RJW Salesroom will feature rare archival editions and exclusive vintage accessories and materials not found anywhere else. Note: For the first time, ALL meals and admission to the ticketed events are included with your registration! Event souvenirs and companion pieces will be available to purchase.

    OUTDOOR LUNCHEON
    Under the Festival Tent on R. John Wright Dolls meadow, visitors will partake of a delicious catered luncheon with views of Vermont's lovely Green Mountains.


    FACTORY TOURS
    Following the meal at the RJW Facility, guests will have the opportunity to tour the Production areas, Design Studio, and Company Showroom where rare items will be offered for sale.


    DINNER EVENT
    The first event at the Everett Mansion will be "A Midsummer Night's Dream." The enchanting evening will feature a woodland fairy's feast followed by magical entertainment by the Children's Ballet Troupe of nearby Manchester, Vermont. Enjoy the musical performance of the little fairy dancers as they flit about like fireflies on the Everett Mansion stone terrace. The meal will be followed by the presentation of the event souvenir - 'Mustardseed'- a darling little ballet fairy from Shakespeare's immortal play seated on a felt-covered base.     BREAKFAST EVENT:
    The Everett Mansion Library will provide the setting for a Fairy Tale 'mouse' breakfast featuring "The Brave Little Tailor." Visit the charming medieval village where the little Mouse Tailor toils in his shop. A bountiful breakfast will be presented for your pleasure. Featured are charming one-of-a-kind centerpieces depicting, cottages, shops, a mill, and even a castle, all scaled for mouse inhabitants! One lucky person at each table will win the drawing to purchase these wonderful creations. The event souvenir will be "The Brave Little Tailor". Available for order will be the winsome "Princess" whose hand in marriage our Little Tailor longs for. The meal will be followed by the presentation of the event souvenir - 'The Brave Little Tailor'- reimagined in mouse form. Limited Edition: 100. Pre-order at the Special Introductory Price: $385.     LUNCHEON EVENT:
    Everyone is flocking to the Medieval Country Fair! All are invited to dress as their favorite Fairy Tale or Medieval character for this festive themed event held on the Everett Mansion grounds. Enjoy the sumptuous meal while you are entertained by Morris performers, musicians, and traditional Mummer sword dancers! There will be a masquerade procession before the King & Queen and their Court as they judge your finery and award prizes.


    WORKSHOPS
    The Everett Mansion classrooms will be the perfect place for exclusive convention breakout Workshops featuring Fairy Gardens and Fairy Tale Dolls! Talented instructors, Gail Wilson and Jackie Marrow, will conduct exciting classes as they steer you through the steps of making Wonderful Things.

    JACKIE MORROW 2-PART WORKSHOP - Friday 9:30AM to 12PM and 2PM to 5PM
    Create a charming Woodland Environment for fairies and other tiny creatures. Your instructor, Jackie Morrow, is the maker of the rustic cottages beloved by RJW Mice. This is your chance to become a Landscape Architect! Jackie will guide you through the steps as you make miniature arbors, gardens, walkways and whimsical stick furniture. You will be supplied with ample natural materials harvested from the surrounding Vermont countryside. Attendees need only bring their imaginations!

    GAIL WILSON WORKSHOP #1 - Saturday 8AM to 12PM
    Make a Little Red Riding Hood doll (3.5 inches tall). A well-known Fairy Tale character made small but not lacking in detail with her own tiny basket. Pre-painted papier mache parts and preliminary machine sewing done ahead for clothing. In the workshop you will assemble the doll, dress her and make her basket. Participants must bring basic sewing kit. Magnifiers and personal folding lights are recommended.

    GAIL WILSON WORKSHOP #2 - Saturday 2PM to 5PM
    Make a Hansel & Gretel doll set (3.5 inches tall). A popular Grimm's Fairy Tale brought to life in miniature. Pre-painted papier mache parts and preliminary machine sewing done ahead for clothing. In the workshop you will assemble the dolls and dress and accessorize them. Participants must bring basic sewing kit. Magnifiers and personal folding lights are recommended.

    MOVIE SCREENING:
    In the Everett Mansion Theatre, there will be a special showing of the legendary silent film of Sir James M. Barrie's classic "Peter Pan." This first film adaptation of Peter Pan was released in 1924 and included ground-breaking special effects. Barrie himself oversaw production and chose the young actress who played the lead. For decades the film was believed lost until a single remaining copy was discovered in the 1950s. Now, almost 100 years after its first release, Peter Pan still retains all of its charm and magic.


    DINNER EVENT:
    Join the Darling children "In the Nursery" while they slumber and Peter Pan steals among them in search of his shadow. An English buffet will be offered for your enjoyment as you await the appearance of Peter. John & Susan will be unveiling the first doll in the "Peter Pan" collection: a fully articulated felt rendition of the boy who wouldn't grow up. The children's faithful canine nursemaid, "Nana", will be the evening's adorable event souvenir. Limited Edition: 100. Pre-order at the Special Introductory Price: $595.     After your complimentary breakfast at the Hampton Inn enjoy shuttle bus tours to some of the sites of Bennington including Bennington Potters. You are also welcome to attend a workshop, or view the special exhibit and salesroom at the Everett Mansion. Destinations and shuttle times will be posted.


    LUNCHEON EVENT:
    Join Puss in the throne room as he slyly deceives the King to win the hand of the Princess for his master. Custom favors, centerpieces and a tantalizing luncheon will be presented along with an interactive "Tall Tales" game. The souvenir will be the most famous of all fairy tale cats: Puss In Boots! This exciting new feline from the RJW Studio sports a gallant chapeau with a dashing feather and a large handsome pair of leather boots. Pre-order at the Special Introductory Price: $850.     MOVIE SCREENING
    The fairest of them all, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs is the first feature-length animated film and Walt Disney's masterpiece. Based on the German fairy tale by the Brothers Grimm, the magnificent animation is matched by the classic score which includes several unforgettable songs. Since its release in 1937, it has brought untold joy and wonder to generations of children and the young-at-heart.


    FINAL BANQUET
    "Happily Ever After", the elegant final banquet on Saturday evening, will provide the perfect finishing touch to the convention. Inside the dining hall, themed favors and centerpieces will cast their spell and our festive farewell dinner will feature an elegantly plated meal fit for a King (or Queen!). Complimentary wine and beverages will also be served. Then, the moment everyone has been waiting for! Due to popular demand, R. John Wright will be introducing a series of delightful cabinet-size child dolls costumed as some of your favorite fairy tale characters! The first doll in the series will be presented to each fully-registered guest.
