The R. John Wright "Pocket Series" began in 1993 with the release of Pocket Pooh which measured just 5 inches tall. In 1997, after several of Pooh's pocket-size animal friends were released, a special edition of Christopher Robin with Winnie-the-Pooh was also made available.
Christopher Robin, a limited edition portrait doll, stands approximately 12" tall and is in perfect scale to accompany the other pocket-size characters from the Hundred Acre Wood. Skillfully fashioned from 100% wool felt, Christopher features a realistically sculpted face, torso, and limbs. This was the first full-body mold from R. John Wright (and the only anatomically correct!). The facial features are delicately hand painted and the neck includes a ball and socket joint for increased expressiveness. Christopher Robin's wig is meticulously hand-knotted of the finest custom-made English mohair. The authentic period costume consists of cotton twill shorts and jersey underwear, smock w/side pockets, leather braces (suspenders), muslin hat, and detailed hand-cobbled leather sandals.
The companion Pooh bear is fully jointed and made of custom-made miniature plush with glass eyes and hand-embroidered features. Pooh wears his trademark shirt vest made of custom-dyed felt lined with cotton and fastened with a genuine mother-of-pearl button. Every detail has been carefully researched to capture the essence of Christopher Robin & Pooh as depicted by E. H. Shepard in the original Winnie-the-Pooh books by A. A. Milne. Both the doll and bear are marked "CRP" on permanently-affixed tabs under the brass RJW buttons to identify them as set pieces.
Christopher Robin & Pooh came enclosed together in a deluxe presentation box with a reproduction of the original Shepard watercolor illustration on the lid. Included is a descriptive booklet, the signed and numbered certificate of authenticity, and the forms for owner registration.
