Max and Moritz (A Tale of Seven Boyish Pranks) is a German language illustrated story in verse. This highly inventive, blackly-humorous tale, told entirely in rhymed couplets, was written and illustrated by artist and poet Wilhelm Busch and published in 1865. Max and Moritz soon became synonymous with boyhood mischief and many comic strip historians consider them to have been the direct inspiration for the famous Katzenjammer Kids. Busch's classic fable of deviance and retribution has become a proud part of the culture in German-speaking countries. Today, parents in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland continue to read the tale to their young children.

Max and Moritz from R. John Wright Dolls is faithfully based on the original Busch images. Made of all-wool felt and fully jointed, each has a molded felt character face with hand painted features and a custom-made wig of the finest imported mohair.
The terrible duo are costumed in rustic, German-style period clothing made of the finest all-wool felt. Max wears embossed leather suspenders and hand-cobbled leather shoes and Moritz is fitted with felt applique plaid trousers and authentically detailed wood and leather clogs with metal cleats.

Produced at the R. John Wright workshop in Bennington, Vermont in a worldwide limited edition of only 100 matched sets, Max and Moritz will come together inside a deluxe presentation box with a signed and numbered certificate of authenticity and the forms for owner registration. Max and Moritz are featured on the cover of DOLL NEWS - the official publication of the United Federation of Doll Clubs.

Max and Moritz are also available through all RJW authorized retailers.
