The latest additions to the Around the World Series are a trio of Japanese children. The group was introduced during the 2012 R. John Wright Convention at a ticketed dinner event titled "Japanese Lanterns."

The first doll is the baby, "Meiko." He measures a diminutive 61/2 inches tall and is fully jointed with the RJW ball & socket system with internal wood mechanism. His sweet face is delicately hand painted and he has inserted hair of the finest mohair. Meiko's tiny expressive hands have individually-sewn fingers and molded details. This darling Japanese baby boy is costumed in an authentic kimona-style onesie made of pima cotton with embroidered cherries on the sleeves. In one hand he holds a bead toy made of wood and leather. Meiko comes boxed with an extra 2-piece outfit, a felt bib, and a blanket made of printed Japanese fabric.

Older sister, "Midori" is also made completely of all-wool felt and fully jointed with the RJW ball & socket system with internal wood mechanism. Measuring 10" tall, Midori is costumed in the traditional silk kimono with hand embroidery and tiny appliqued felt cherry blossoms. Her authentic Japanese hairdo, made of fine mohair, is topped with decorative wood ornaments and on her feet she wears cotton socks and handcrafted wooden sandals.

Japanese Children

Handsome older brother "Akira" is similarly constructed and measures approximately 10" tall. He has a traditional bald pate and a wig of fine mohair. He is outfitted in a classic striped "yukata" robe made of hand dyed silk fabric with separately topstitched purple silk ribbons. Cotton shorts and stockings and handcrafted wooden sandals complete his authentic ensemble. Akira holds a wooden rod with a traditional handmade "koinobori" attached - a cloth carp-shaped kite to celebrate Boy's Day in Japan!

Japanese Children

The three dolls are made in an extremely small edition of just 100 pieces each worldwide. Sold individually or as a set, each of the Chilren of Japan will come beautifully packaged in a deluxe RJW presentation box with a certificate of authenticity and the forms for owner registration.
