GONE WITH THE WIND™ is regarded as one of the greatest films of all time. Faithfully adapted from Margaret Mitchell's best-selling novel, the film is set in the American South against the backdrop of the Civil War and Reconstruction era. An epic historical romance, it tells the story of Scarlett O'Hara, the strong-willed daughter of a Georgia plantation owner. Upon its release in 1939, the film was immensely popular, becoming the highest-earning film made to that point. Over seventy-five years later, it still remains the most successful film in box-office history.
We are pleased to present the "GONE WITH THE WIND MICE" - celebrating the classic 1939 motion picture. Brought to life for the first time in the form of mice, the series will consist of six characters: Rhett, Scarlett, Ashley, Melanie, Mammy and Belle. Each beloved character will be made of fine mohair plush with hand embroidered features, resin hands and feet, glass eyes, inset whiskers, and a leather tail.
The first two mice in the series are Scarlett O'Hara and Rhett Butler. Each is exquisitely costumed using custom-made miniature fabrics and accessories. Scarlett is dressed in the memorable gown she wore to the barbecue at Twelve Oaks where she encounters Rhett Butler for the first time. Her dress is made of fine silk organza custom-printed in the distinctive green sprigged pattern. The bodice features a ruffle interwoven with tiny silk ribbon and a felt stomacher surrounds her waist. Atop her head Scarlett wears the fetching straw bonnet tied at the chin with a green felt bow.
Rhett is outfitted in a dapper double-breasted vest and grey flannel trousers. His tailored cutaway topcoat, silk ascot, and dashing felt hat complete his period ensemble. Measuring approximately 3" tall, each mouse has a built-in metal stand for effortless display.
The Gone with the Wind mice are fully-licensed and produced at the R. John Wright Dolls studio workshop in Bennington, Vermont in a limited edition of 250 pieces worldwide. Each mouse is numbered and boxed with a corresponding signed and numbered certificate of authenticity and the forms for owner registration. The series is available through all authorized R. John Wright dealers or directly from the RJW Company Store (see below). Please note: the first 100 pieces will be sold as matched-number sets. Higher numbers in the edition will be sold individually.
