GONE WITH THE WIND™ is regarded as one of the greatest films of all time. Faithfully adapted from Margaret Mitchell's best-selling novel, the film is set in the American South against the backdrop of the Civil War and Reconstruction era. An epic historical romance, it tells the story of Scarlett O'Hara, the strong-willed daughter of a Georgia plantation owner. Upon its release in 1939, the film was immensely popular, becoming the highest-earning film made to that point. Over seventy-five years later, it still remains the most successful film in box-office history.
We are pleased to present the "GONE WITH THE WIND MICE" - celebrating the classic 1939 motion picture. Brought to life for the first time in the form of mice, the series will consist of six characters: Rhett Butler, Scarlett O'Hara, Ashley Wilkes, Melanie Hamilton, Mammy and Belle Watling. Each beloved character will be made of fine mohair plush with hand embroidered features, resin hands and feet, glass eyes, inset whiskers, and a leather tail. Measuring approximately 3" tall, each mouse has a built-in metal stand for effortless display.
The fourth and fifth mice in the series are Ashley Wilkes and Melanie Hamilton. Each is exquisitely costumed using custom-made fabrics and accessories. Melanie is costumed in the outfit she wore to the barbecue at Twelve Oaks where she and Ashley announced their engagement. Her lovely gown is made of dove grey organza embellished with white ruffles at the hem and neckline. A wide persimmon colored sash ties around her waist. Atop her head Mellie wears an exquisite bonnet made of natural straw braid. The charming chapeau is lined with silk ruching and ties at the chin with a matching persimmon colored silk bow.
Ashley is outfitted in a dapper beige vest with a gold chain and matching felt trousers. His handsome maroon jacket is complimented by a fancy ruffled white shirt and matching maroon silk tie. The dapper felt Gambler-style hat completes his period ensemble.
The Gone with the Wind mice are fully-licensed and produced at the R. John Wright studio workshop in Bennington, Vermont in a limited edition of 250 pieces worldwide. Each mouse is numbered and boxed with a corresponding signed and numbered certificate of authenticity and the forms for owner registration. The series is available through all authorized R. John Wright dealers or directly from the RJW Company Store (see below). Please note: the first 100 pieces will be sold as matched-number sets. Higher numbers in the edition will be sold individually.
